Diamond Jubilee Fete - profit awards
The Diamond Jubilee Fete, held earlier this year, proved to be a monumental success, thanks to the management committee, the large number of helpers and the public that came to support it. Even though the day had to be cut short due to the weather the event managed to achieve an overall profit of £2,079.65.
The fete committee have decided that the monies should be divided amongst good causes in Coltishall Village. The organisations that are to receive an award are :
The Royal British Legion £500
Good Neighbours scheme £500
Coltishall Pre-school play group £250
The Village Hall Charity £250
Coltishall Brownies £125
Coltishall Guides £125
Friends of Coltishall Primary School £250
Coltishall & Horstead Youth Forum £79.65
The Coltishall Fete Committee would like thank all who organised or took part in the event
The Diamond Jubilee Youth Club Fete, which was held on Sunday 5th August on Coltishall Village Hall playing fields was a consummate success irrespective of the weather.
DIAMOND JUBILEE YOUTH CLUB FETE
The fete received Big Lottery funding to the tune of £645 and a £100 grant came from the Norfolk County Council Celebration Fund. There were a number of donations from local businesses and collection tins were placed in a number of businesses which brought in a considerable sum of money. All of which helped to make the Fete the success it was.
The day began at 8 am with as many volunteers as possible erecting tents and a marquee. The whole playing field having to be marked out for the stalls and activities. The stalls consisted of Cakes, Flowers, Birds of Prey, Dog Agility, Zorb Balls, Bouncy Castles, Charities, Youth Club Tuck/Tombola Food Stalls and the Village Hall had a Bar with cakes and Refreshments available. There was a Fancy Dress competition for the local Play Group and a demonstration of Ballet by the Play Group children, followed by ZUMBA. The 3 Up 2 Down band started the day and entertained with a grand choice of music.
Once the rain started and became torrential, at about 2pm, things began to fade and stall holders had to protect their goods and began to leave. But all was not lost the public stayed with us and retired to the bar or the refreshment area of the village hall. This lead to all the cakes being sold (a blessing in disguise).
The Grand Prize draw took place at 4-30pm, with a first prize of “Off road land Rover experience”, second Prize of £100 and third prize a day pass to Dunstan Hall, plus many others. The Fete committee would like to thank all the volunteers for their exceptional hard work and those that took part because without them the Diamond Jubilee Youth Club Fete would not have been the success it was. The parishioners also need to be thank for supporting the event. All this effort culminated in a Profit in excess of £2000. The monies will be divided among local good causes which have yet to be decided. A list of prize winners and a statement of accounts will be placed on the Coltishall Website (Coltishall.org.uk) for viewing the same lists will be available for viewing from the Fete Secretary once they have been compiled.
